PRE-REGISTER

Twenty-one states + DC allow people under the age of eighteen to pre-register to vote.

 

Where?

 

- California, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Utah allow pre-registration at age sixteen.

- Maine, Nevada, New Jersey, and West Virginia allow pre-registration at age seventeen.

 

- Georgia, Iowa, and Missouri allow pre-registration at age seventeen and a half (must be six months or less until the next election).

 

- Texas allows pre-registration at age seventeen and ten months.

 

 

- Alaska allows pre-registration ninety days before an eighteenth birthday.

 

 

Why?

 

- Voting is habit-forming, starting young is important.

 

- Voting can change the country with the ideas of younger generations.

 

- Every vote counts.

 

- Preregistration means automatic registration on your 18th birthday.

 

How?

 

- Visit the website of your home state's Secretary of State.

- Some states allow preregistration at the DMV.
